Thread: Fraser Island Beach

    Fraser Island Beach

Just wondering if anyone has been to the east side of Fraser since ex tropical cyclone oswald hit? Usually the beach looses most of its structure following big winds and swell. I am heading there in a few weeks camping for a week and was pondering other options should the beach still be recovering so to speak.

    Cheers,
    Rob

The beach is fine mate. There was a little sand washed away from around Yidney and poyungan rocks, but you can still get around them at low tide. If anything it washed more sand up the beach and flattened it out. Coming back a few days after the cyclone, the beach was like a highway.

Thanks GM-Bluewater for the feedback. Thats kind of what i was getting at. I find that surf beahces can be very hard ot fish after big tidal surges and swell. Makes all the beaches flat and without any structure. I might hold off for another month until some gutters and holes redevelope by the sounds of it.

    cheers

Supposed to be going on Sunday for a week... Will be tenting it with a few blokes and 2 fourbys NO boat. Should I be thinking about cancelling it due to recent rainfall
and more rain expected? Fraser condition report was done on 21st and doesnt look promising and they had a fair bit of rain since then.
