Networking Lowrance HDS Units (And a Raymarine Autopilot)

    Hello to the Electronic's Gurus!!!!!

    Ok here is my dilemna.

I have the following to which I would like to Interlink:
    1. HDS 10 Gen 2
    2. HDS 7 Gen 2
    3. LSS Structure Scan
    4. Raymarine Compass
    5. Raymarine ST8002 Autopilot.

Now my dilemna is I have the HDS10 in the hardtop, and the rest of the gear in the cockpit.

I have tried and tried to feed another wire (NMEA2000) down the alloy tubing of the hard top, to link with the HDS7, however I cannot get it to happen (Wasted a whole sunday).

I do have a wire fed through with the identical profile to either the ethernet or NMEA2000, to which I could splice connectors to each end.

ISSUE IS, its either NMEA or Ethernet????

If I go ethernet (From what I have researched, this is the way to go), will I get all waypoints, navionics charts, transducers and structure scans SHARED??

And say I link the compass and autopilot to the HDS7 through NMEA0183, and then I link a VHF to the HDS10 nmea0183, is ALL COVERED?????

Or, do I have to link these units with both Ethernet and NMEA 2000????

Please help before I waste another day trying to feed wires.

    Cheers

Here is an article that gives you the info that you need, from what I can tell.

Note to self: Don't argue with an idiot. They will only bring you down to their level and beat you with experience....

Thanks mate, that helped a lot.

I will persevere and get the other cable through so I can NMEA and Ethernet..

Time to grab the grinder lol

Try a drill and a dremel first, not quite as aggressive but will take more time and look much better, makes it easier to use grommets for cable protection.
