    Launching at Fisher's Creek, Cardwell

    Hi All,

What is the rule of thumb regarding how much water/ how long before or after low tide do you need to allow to be able to launch and retrieve at the boat ramp at Fisher's Creek? I am heading up there with the old man in a couple of months, and it looks like we will have low tide (0.7m) at around 2.00pm each day?

    Thanks for your help!!

Been a while, but you can forget it at the low, you'll be walking the last km. better to do it the top of the tides or second half of the rising tide.

We get in and out in a 4.5m tinny when there is a bit over a meter of water. A couple of rock bars across the creek not far from the ramp keep you alert. If necessary go with the electric motor in this last bit (no electric? Go fish somewhere else). The tide is behind the times published for Townsville but it seems to vary up to an hour so keep this in mind.

Thanks for the feedback so far guys. Whiteman- when you say you get in in just over a metre of water, are you referring to the depth of the water or with regards to the tide size? I have an electric mate, so I should be able to sneak in there. Cheers Mate

Tide height. Alarm bells ring at 1m low just as they do going to the reef at Lucinda when it is under 0.8. You can possibly get through when it is lower but you know you'll be fighting tide and run-off.

7 low at 2pm you'll be out by 4, I fish there all the time in my 4.2, the fishing has been quiet-all the best
Gone fishin', be back at dark-thirty!
