Thats lack of fusion there.....and right under a crucial mounting aswell....no QA obviously. Not surprised though,I have recently been assembling a large storage shed made in China and the welding has been horrific......

    Re: Noble boats

Let’s face it, any company that moves production to China is based on one decision alone…..cost cutting. The Chinees are the masters of cost cutting and the Noble boats are no exception. Besides the lack of quality control and design flaws, would you be confident that the grade of alloy is in fact structural/ marine grade alloy. I have seen no shortage of 316 stainless steel products hitting our shores that strangely enough develop rust after 12 months. Some fairly big names are seeing this happen and I wonder how long before people start demanding there coin back?

On this note, the auction guy made a big point of saying the chinese imported the plate alloy from Germany.

Now that I would doubt. If he made the point of saying that I would be suspicious straight away.

My reaction was "geez, they must make cheap alloy in Germany, it wouldn't have been to increase the quality aspect".

I agree with Greg. My Pacific Sport fish has been awesome. Not 1 problem with it other than a bit of paint pealing but you have to expect that from a 12 year old boat.

The Noble design is faultless in my opinion, its the manufacturers that need to be replaced and bring back the deserved reputation these boats once had, Shame on you NBI for destroying a great boat like this.

I took trevallys boat for a test just before delivery and decided to design and build a 5.8 center con from NBI.

Build process was very transparent received photo updates almost daily. Last set of photos I noticed they had stuffed something and a new hull was started and built as I requested. Boat arrived and I have put 350 hours on the hull 150opti 50 odd hours then 175 ProXs for the last 287 hours without an issue.
Had an extra tank added locally as they didn't fit the 280l tank as requested from factory. (Paid by NBI)That was the last time I spoke with Mr Lee.
Paint started to bubble slightly after 4 months and photos, quotes done. 2 years later still no response.
I love the boat by far the best fishing platform I have fished out of. Sadly it's now up for sale due to change of circumstances and the $$$ I'm set to loose is frightening but it no longer suits my needs so it has to go. When the floor was out to add the tank the boat builder commented on how well it was put together and pretty much said I would never break it so far he is right.
I could go on for hours but to sum it up.

Would I buy a noble again? No purely because the way the company treated me and so many other people that had issues due to poor craftsmanship.

Do I love the boat? Yes best boat I've owned. We all know of the horror stories regarding them and its sad that such an amazing hull has been ruined.

Happy to discuss more if anyone is thinking of buying one they are not all bad. Probably only 80-90% lemons....

    Cheers

    Re: Noble boats

    Marchy,

I paid a 10% deposit on my boat as I could not collect it for a few months - then when I did collect it I did about 20 to 25 hours and then put the motor in for it's 20 hours service at Jeffers Motorsport - he told me the motor service alarm had been turned off and the boat had done 70 hours.

I think many people took my boat for a test run and went fishing in it before I collected it.

Yes the paint has bubbled under the rail on my boat too - and if they had to fix that I imagine they would have to do nearly 100% of them. You see when they acid wash the boats this traps under the rail and seep out under the bog line and blisters the paint - pretty common according to a boat building mate and the only way to avoid it is let the boat dry some weeks after acid washing . . . .

Shame you are having to sell your rig - but yes people's circumstances change.

I hope with my boat to take back the paint to aluminium along the rail and partly down the sides to ensure adequate welding along this line then put a vinyl wrap along the sides - but that can wait some years until I need a repower - for now it works and I have no problems with performance.

The cabin on my boat too is one of the solid ones - so I was lucky there.

I think the only way China can make any good of the educated Australian market is to import unpainted hulls so they can be at the very least visually inspected as we know under the bog there is little or in many cases no weld at all - just crazy and dangerous!

In relation to importing things from China - they have different standards, I think we should not accept and although my boat has been a drama the one thing I can not accept is food imported from China - any country that can have melamine in it's children's baby formula and no quality standards applied to it's food and production is something I will not put through my body or my family's. Just take a good look at what you get from your supermarket and see how much is imported from China - even frozen peas and corn in Woolies - it's insane!
    Cheers

If there are any improvments to be made to the industry generally we had best support it or have some useful input or our children will just have to buy everything from China.
