Mate, you must be easily pleased, as the 3 boats I had a good look at were not well made nor finished. Apart from quite a nice paint job along the sides, every other aspect was average at best. Welds looked like a kid had done them, paint finish internally was appaling (runs everywhere and lots of dull patches), where the alloy had been cut (say to make a hole for a rod holder etc) again, it looked like it had been hacked at with a tin opener. The carpet on the floors didn't fit properly with jagged edges. Any fixtures were of dubious quality.
Having said all this, I was still shocked at how cheaply they went. I have read Trevs post from start to finish, but at $20k for a brand new 5.8m centre cab on a local trailer, I would forgive a bloke who was tempted to gamble on one.
The auctioneer said that they are now the exclusive agent for Noble and will be offering them on an ongoing basis. I don't know if they would be offering warranty.
Btw, the formality of "Mr Fishard" is unnecessary. We are all friends here, so just plain old Fishard will do nicely

I think it is actually sad that a great Aussie designed boat like the SuperVee is now only done through auction houses. They were the ducks guts once upon a time in plate boats - turned to shit now though

    Hey FisHard,
Wish I could get fish to bite so easily.
No, I was not easily pleased, just interested that someone could see the welds, as things were mostly covered in coving/filler/bog/paint.
I had one of these O/S made products in my workshop late last year. Got to see inside of it....
And sorry if I was a bit formal , Mr FisHard.
ps I still need a new spin stick, would you care to make a suggestion?

    Fishard,
I am trying to buy a good fishing rod for casting smallish chrome lures at tuna/macks in the bay.

Still going with the engineering business I think?? Ben Noble never designed those boats. They just picked up the crumbs along with Yamba when Pacific Sportfish went down the tubes. It was already a premium product before they were involved.

    Re: Noble boats

Thanks for info i wondered how much they would at auction today. New 5.8m with new trailer, 140 Suzuki approx $16,000 electronics approx $4000 safety gear $1000. Boat cost with auction fee $21600 plus the above approx $43,000 lets say $45,000. Downside no warranty or service backup, build quality questionable. Tempting maybe not worth the risk

Wise choice to stay away mate.......the quality is not there and has not been for a few years atleast..........the local dealer here refused to sell them for one reason or another and this was a good 18mths ago and stated he could not stand by the product .

My neighbor has the older 5.2 Pacific Sportfish and even though it's nearly 15 years old it still hold's it's own for a well built plate boat........It's a pity about Noble as it's just another Aussie product gone.

    6.2m Centre Cabin: $36k
I had a look at them and yes, they were pretty roughly made and finished, but would these prices tempt you?
I don't think at those prices it's anywhere near tempting. Just on the thought that you still have to spend around that much again to finish the boat off which would most likely over capitalise the rig given Nobles now poor reputation. Spend another $5k and buy locally built where you can watch the thing being constructed. No paint and bog cover up jobs either, they are just a time bomb, a turd in fancy wrapping.
The trailers they are putting them on are not locally built either if they are seatrail, pretty sure they are from China or somewhere similar, please correct me if I am mistaken. The trailers may be ok though, time will tell.
A couple of Seatrails I have looked at are quite lacking in adjustments to wobble roller assemblies compared to our locally made stuff and they use different sizes in the wobble rollers to what is common here. They look to be only about 3".
Axles too appear to be hollow box section being a likely rust failure problem down the track. At least a solid axle rusts from the outside in, not the opposite.

    Re: Noble boats

I took these photos while Trevelly was having some issues, at the time I chose not to put them up..

these photos are of noble >7m boat that was in a dealers yard, I thought I would check and see if it had any issues like Trev mentioned.

    Regards
    Honda.
