chartplotter - which one is goood
As the title says
I'm looking for a good chartplotter, I have a standard horizion cp180 and would like to upgrade to something bigger.
Any suggestions. Budget is around $1000 and below as i've just spend my life savings on a furunot 587

Have a look at the Garmin 750s, I think they are flogging them around $1200. Touch screen, easy to use, NMEA 2000. Will take radar if you choose in the future. Fishing maps are regarded as being quite detailed. A bit more than you were planning to spend, but it is a runout special with a new model on the horizon.

Another vote for the Garmin 750. Great value with the runout sale at the moment, great units the Garmin touchscreens. You won't go wrong with one.

+ another for the 750, specials on at both BIAS and Whittworth's....since you already have a sounder perhaps you can get the 750 for $1K by negotiation? (I.e. the model without sounder capability)

I know there is sale on the 750S for around $1300 , however i still think i need to buy the detailed maps of where i'm fishing
I'm thinking now of a standard horizon cp590 12 inch screen with vga output for $1500
I already have a C-map NT+ card.

For the map cards look on ebay I bought an east coast of Australia platinum (or whatever its called, top of the range) card for the garmin last year for $79 inc postage. However I did have to wait a month for it to come from Lithuania but everything works on it.
