    Crabs-I don't get it?

Dropped 8 pots out yesterday in the Waterloo bay/ Wynnum area hoping for a feed of muddies. Water was pretty fresh on top and dropped them in about 9-10 ft of water on the high tide. Only got 7 back as one of the ropes chaffed through I think and came off as I was pulling it up.
Got 2 big full keeper muddies and a couple of throwbacks but also got 15 keeper sandies. Not that I'm complaining but I thought that the water would have been too fresh for the sandies and they would have been out in the middle of the bay or over towards Moreton/Straddie???
Can someone enlighten me what is going on?
Apart from the keepers we got about 15 female sandies and a couple of female muddies with no undersize bucks.

Nice surprise and a great result that is for sure. I guess there must be enough salt on the bottom because sandys keel over very quickly. How fast can a sandy move also? Ben

Thats right, the fresh will float on top of the salt, so ten foot down they wont know the difference, and dont forget they still have to eat.. nice days work..

Nice one, I wonder if that's the case with the Logan river. There would have to be some deep holes towards the more cleaner water one would think.

Anyone tried the Logan since the flood?

    Cheers, Bondy

We have a small lightweight grappling hook to pull up pots ehen we lose a rope or float. Just looks like a mini reef pick and made out of wire about double the thickness of coathanger with some lead wrapped around it.. Works and doesn't get jammed up as it just bends. Saves there being ghost pots down there.

    Tried that.
Marked it on the GPS as soon as we realised what happened and dragged through the area for half an hour but no luck. We had got a legal muddie out of the 2 previous pots so we certainly wanted to get it back.
