3D Fish eye view on Garmin 750S

Have been seriously playing with our sounder over the last couple of weeks, I found this function which I had initially considered a gimmick. Most of you with these units may have already found this, but may be useful to someone.

The view provides an underwater rendering of the bottom, not in any detail, just from the depth lines on the charts, but the clever thing is that it shows where fish were marked on the previous drift, and the depths. The view shows them as colored balloons on a string from the bottom. The sonar must have logging coded. Would be nice to find out how to download it.

We found it handy targeting kings, I saw a couple of red balloons about 20m above the more plentiful green balloons. We had been catching rats all morning, and raising the baits 20m up from where. We're running them resulted in two 80cm fish on the next drift.

You also get to see real time marking of fish while in this view.

I understand that the placement would only be the GPS position when a return was received on the sounder, but using a search pattern like drift, you can then flick between fore/aft/starboard/port views. Used this a couple of times with good success.

You do need a map card in the unit to use this feature.

    Cheers

Thanks Thy, I am guilty of sticking to the basics, I will mess with it a bit more next time out

Thy, what page in the 750 manual are you looking at?

Not looking in the manual, I was experimenting when othe water. If it doesn't show in your menu then the unit may not be seeing the map card. It requires a map card to work.

I have a 750s but only use it as a gps I have been using a Raymarine A70 for my sounding I did notice this feature but never tried it, its abit of work to run another transducer do you think its worth it?
Further more I noticed some discussion regarding the cards these are great I use the card to copy way points from map source on my laptop back and forth to the 750
    defiantly an essential

I run 2 ducers mounted next to each other. The track analysis in Homeport is one of the useful features where you can check the depth at any point you pass over. Fantastic for finding holes and drop-offs in the reef that are not charted.

dead set do they cause problems running simultaneously?

Went to a Furuno evening and they discussed using multiple transducers. They don't recommend it, saying that it causes returns to get lost due to crosstalk, increases the noise on both units. Is ok if you are able to manually specify frequencies, but if they are on the same frequency the units cannot differentiate.

The rep reckons you should run one or other for best results and better target separation.

He did spend the night talking about how to get the best results, with a short section of the presentation targeted at marketing their product. I found it very educational, as did many of the others that attended if the discussion over drinks afterwards was anything to go by.

No issues whatsoever. I have turned units off to see if there was a difference and nothing changed. I have not seen a single piece of evidence of interference.
