Have been seriously playing with our sounder over the last couple of weeks, I found this function which I had initially considered a gimmick. Most of you with these units may have already found this, but may be useful to someone.
The view provides an underwater rendering of the bottom, not in any detail, just from the depth lines on the charts, but the clever thing is that it shows where fish were marked on the previous drift, and the depths. The view shows them as colored balloons on a string from the bottom. The sonar must have logging coded. Would be nice to find out how to download it.
We found it handy targeting kings, I saw a couple of red balloons about 20m above the more plentiful green balloons. We had been catching rats all morning, and raising the baits 20m up from where. We're running them resulted in two 80cm fish on the next drift.
You also get to see real time marking of fish while in this view.
I understand that the placement would only be the GPS position when a return was received on the sounder, but using a search pattern like drift, you can then flick between fore/aft/starboard/port views. Used this a couple of times with good success.
You do need a map card in the unit to use this feature.
Cheers
