Do they have a repeater in the Percy group?? Anyone know? As I'd say we would get range from 60k..
I have sent an email to VMR Thirsty sound. They are probably the closest

No repeater in the Percy Group. The Percy Island Homestead at West Bay on Middle Percy Island 'monitors' VHF Channel 10, and I'm sure would relay an important message for you (they also have a Sat Phone: +61 (07) 4951 0993 )

Also, hopefully any cruising Yachts in the area would be monitoring VHF Channel 16.

West Bay is known as a rolly anchorage.
You have a potential bolt hole if the weather gets bad. The 'Lagoon' at West Bay can hold a number of boats, however is mostly dry at low tide. Cruising Catamarans regularly hole up in there and take to the dry for shelter/maintenance. You could raft two mono's together so they support each other if there wasn't enough low tide holes to float in. Entry/Exit from the Lagoon is tide dependant. Stay on the boats or hang out at the Percy Islands A Frame or Tree House. If camping - the Homestead does request a camping fee of $5.00.

Near Entrance to Lagoon at Low Tide!

Good Luck. Have a bloody great time guys!

It looks like the tides for the Sunday morning at Clarview are going to put us on the water about 10.30am on the Sunday morning. This will put us at the Percys at about 1.30pm or so. We then have the choice of making a run to the Swains but arrive late in the afternoon or we take a more leisurely approach and stay the night at the Percys and go ashore to visit the A frame and perhaps have a bit of a fish and a get together. Up early and hit the Swains for breakfast. What does everyone think?
Is anyone thinking of a fuel dump on the Percys

Hmm, so Clareiew is tidal hey?

I'm happy with the Percy meet, I'd say by 130 the arvo breeze will be up!

Would much rather the morning run in good conditions the next day! The main reason is due to the fact I don't know the swains and the first thing I'll be doing in daylight is finding a shelter anchorage point lol!

Plus, don't fear... No rescuing needed! In the very unlikely event I need to aux it back, I calculate a 14hr trip!!

I like the idea of having lots of time to check the place out when we get there. Also, takes the pressure off in case there is a later than expected departure.

My thoughts exactly. Find a base camp around Paul Reef and then spread out (within radio contact). If anyone gets onto good ground they can let the others know.
It looks like radio contact with VMR will be lost not far from the Percys. We should be also able to pick up other boats either on the swains or making passage up the coast at this stage.

You have no time for get togethers. Isn't there a boat in your yard that needs welding?

Very soon Perry. When is the best time to get the Brissy boys together? Do we run one weekday evening or next sat (weather dependant i.e. I'm going fishing if the weather is good)
