Hit Mud island again Tuesday and on the spot again pre dawn. This time we had insect repellent and didn't get carried away by the savages!! Sounded around the same mark as Monday to see a few decent shows and set up a drift.
The wind was coming from the south early and drifting over the mark was a little difficult as the current was running in different directions. We pulled in a squire and grassy that were size, but threw them back as we were after a bigger fish today..
Well after a couple more drifts and trying to drift perfectly over the mark I got hit and was on. It took a big first run and I was confident the slightly heavier leader (12 pound) was going to hold on today!! I turned it after a few minutes and was being as gentle as I could in an aggressive way if that makes sense to anyone?? A few minutes later and a couple of smaller runs we boated a nice snapper that went just under 60cm's.. Was happy with that!!
Zman curly tail did the damage again and is definitely my go to lure at mud.
After a few more drifts on the same mark we moved and sounded around other marks I have around different parts of the island but was unable to find fish. We packed it in and headed back to pinko ramp around 10.
Will be out later in the week to hopefully land a few more of the horses that smashed us on Monday..
