Left manly 4am with just jack. Got drenched in the first hour or soo... We had good expectations of some better snapper today as was the plan was to poke around the islands close to manly and stay out for the rain for a mixed bag........
Anyways we never got that big snapper with the best going 47 a with a few cod thrown in...... and a 41cm bream
The call was made.... Gee's Mate from justjack.... we havnt got any wierd fish/un common on the plasctics for a while...... nooo sooner had he finish saying with his remark... we cast nearly on top of each other in only a few foot of water.... my reel screamed amazingly zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz then his did two..... we thaught we were tangled initially... and 2 epic fights were fought out with 2 massive grunter bream being landed 58 and 62cm....... omfg had no idea these fish got that big.... 2 huge pbs and 2 huge smiles
i remeber a few years back i got a grunter in the pine river that went about 55cm. couldnt believe my eyes when i first saw it. have certainly seen some big ones getting around up north.
I landed one at 55 in the bris river a year or so ago (on live prawn, st lucia) and a few months after seen some guy post a whopper, from memory was well
over 70cm (live prawn, west end).
Mid river fishing used to be good, seems to have died over the last year.
They fight hard and are great table fish.
Nice catch on the plastics.
