    Hayes Inlet

    Hey all
Went for a quick flatty flick saturday morning up in the Hayes Inlet area for couple hours, threw the pots in at the last minute. Was glad i did as the fishing was pretty poor. Lost lots of gulps to pickers and little flatties, nothing worth mentioning.
Ended up being 1 happy crabber for daytime crabbing pretty easy work.

    Cheers

p.s to the fellow prawners, lots of bananas up on the sandbanks in 30-50cm of water, didnt have the bloody cast net bugger, lesson learnt.

Dad reckons fishing is 10% brains and 95% muscle, the rest is just good luck.

Well done, I haven't had any luck up there for the last couple of months. Even the herring and mullet, for live bait. are hard to find.

split-shot, there were a lot of large mullet up there. I dont normally see much bait fish activity through there but this time i had the whole inlet to myself, 1 boat anchored and a few kayakers so was very quiet.

mick you're not wrong. Love a feed or 2 of crabs, even better when its that easy. Just make sure i pack the cast net next time

Thanks, I fish the area around the pipe. Sandies out front or in the inlet?
