Re- LOWRANCE HDS 7 (gen 1) - 2 Queries ??
hi guys i have a couple of queries (
Q1 - i have a lowrance HDS 7 gen 1 version with structure scan that i am pretty happy with but the question is is it worth it to upgrade to say a HDS 7 gen 2 or maybe a HDS 8 gen 2 with the structure scan and whats the big advantages of doing that upgrade from my original HDS 7 gen 1 unit with structure scan - also can i use my original gen 1 unit structure scan module with the new gen 2 unit if i do upgrade or do i have to buy the new structure scan 2 module also
Q 2 - Also my navionics card which was updated by navionics about a year and bit back is a Gold /XL9 SD/32XG V02.22 that i use it in my HDS7 gen 1 unit - but i also need to use it in my older but still good Lowrance LCX27c unit that i have on my trailer sailer when i take that out some days and i heard a wishper that some of the new updated navionics Gold cards may not work in the older sounder/ gps combos like my LCX27 c - anyone can throw some light on that situation - have asked navionics but arent much help as no reply received ???
thanks for any experienced help - did a search of the forums got swamped with stuff but could not really find the relevant answers
cheers and my best rob

Re: Re lowrance HDS 7 gen 1
Patrol50,
The key hardware differences are really updates to the processor and subcomponents for better performance. the underlying O/S is effectively the same version. With the exception of the latest update for the Touch and Gen2 units.

Honda.

Re: Re lowrance HDS 7 gen 1
Thanks honda appreciated mate thats what i sort of thought myself a better faster processor and some software updates (i know you know about this stuff) - hope your HDS unit is finally behaving ok - must say i would certainly like the HDS 8 gen 2 with the SS2 but finding it pretty hard to justify those biggish dollars to spy a few extra flathead holes -
thanks again rob
