Thread: Bait out fishes lure...Wtf

    Re: Bait out fishes lure...Wtf

I don't think too many Bream fishos would be suprised that a herring fillet accounted for more Bream. Good bait fishos regularly knock out cricket scores on Bream while most lure fishos are happy with a handfull. Theres nothing wrong with either approach so do what you are happy with.
Lures are just another fishing tool. There is an element of skill in presenting them properly but it doesnt make a lure caught fish any better than one caught on bait. Use whatever you feel like throwing out

    Good fishing!

Photo ... I think Kev is doubting you even went out.

Went fishing earlier this week with large prawns (usually don't take prawns) and squid. Normally we do well with the squid (and pillies but didn't have any at hand) but all good fish (Snapper and Tuskfish) were caught on the prawns. I always take a variety of bait because I found those fishies like a change. Sometimes there's been a fight for the last squid or pillie on my boat depending on the day.

I don't mind the smell fish on my hands, boat or clothes, it's totally fine with me. I have caught nemerous good fish on a varitey of lure, and foud it very satisfying. I went out for a pure lure session, like I have done in the past, but this time after a few hours, I did not succeed on them. Being a pure lure fisherman, or pure bait fisherman, does not make one better than the other. A smart fisherman uses what works on the day, and has an arsenell to match. The photo thing does not do a lot for me, as I think it's a pain to upload pics and carry a camera. For those that need proof of their catch to say look at me look at me, or any other reason then that's fine. For those that don't want to have a litte faith and trust and take my word then it is what it is.

I hope the lures work for you every day you go out and you keep smelling might fine.
My post was in no way meant to be demeaning or derogatory, I had tried to take a tongue in cheek / jibe approach. Apparatenly failing miserably because, in the written word it is very hard to portray tone, and for this I apologise sincerely.

In regards to the photo thing, I prefer (my opinion only) to see trip reports with a photo attached rather than just text. Once again, a jibe to try and prompt the posting of a bit of fish porn. This is afterall a fishing site and fish photos would be most welcome, but as you stated, you have your reasons and I respect that.

    Hey Childers,

Pulling posts from other forums is cheating, but I love your work, well played sir.....

I was fishing off a rockwall down the goldy about a week ago and some other fishos had the big setups you know, big fish gear, throw it out into a likely hole and snagged two very nice whiting one horse of 40cm and one not so big but still a keeper at 33cm.

You never know when a good 30cm+ school of bream is going to swim by (though they are a bit scarce at present).
