    Escapin Tackle Skirts

    Hey,

Picked up 5 for cheap of eBay, here's a couple pics including the hook setup as it's not shown very well on eBay. I'm going to cover most of it with heatshrink in case of macks and see how that goes, if no joy i'll convert to wire, should be fun to play with and will chase some small billies with mates this year I think.

Just check the crimps Nicko - make sure they hold. have bought stuff from Escapin and its generally been ok - but did get one cheap resin head skirt somewhere (can't recall if it was escapin or elsewhere) and the crimp didn't hold - not on a fish thankfully - just on a test.................i don't think i've got any of them (resin heads) wet yet............

    Thanks Moffy,

I'm seriously considering changing some to single strand to protect against spanish.. not sure though but keen to run two of them for macks just for laughs to see how they go, one guy in the torres strait used to use nothing but pusher style lures for macks, wonder how many skirts he went through though lol.

will re-crimp a couple of them and keep them with mono for billies just to see if i can catch one, not super interested in chasing them just want to catch and release one to tick it off the list.

I put a little bit of multistrand under the skirts. The crimps are a little dodgy. I either replaced or hit the loose end with a flame to melt the end into a ball

Got a couple myself the other day. I was not satisfied with the hook used or the way it was rigged for light tackle gamefishing. Hook was too large and too heavy gauge. I have re-rigged mine with 250 lb 49 strand wire under the skirt to two Gamakatsu SL12s and 120 lb mono as the leader. Haven't swum them yet, but reports from others have been good.
