It looks very tidy, sounds ok and is very well priced. If it checks out, I would seriously consider buying it as there would be a few on this site wanting to if you don't.

I'm picking this up today pending final revs check etc.

The boat doesn't have a sounder or gps. Since I'm mainly gonna use this around Sydney harbor botany Bay middle Harbor and Palm Beach area
Is there a good sounder combo out there that'll do the job but not break the bank. I used to have the northstar units with the fuel flow wich would be handy in this boat with no fuel guage.

Suggest you put up a budget for your combo and you will get some suggestions from there. There are plenty of great combos out there ranging from $300-400 on up to ??? depending on what you need. There are also plenty of secondhand one around as blokes up grade theirs to better or the latest model.

well all has went well and I am the proud new owner of this boat ! gotto say its in even better condition than originally thaught.

Bob the seller was a treat to deal with he gave me a lot of extras with the boat like ezy lift anchor retrieval system a brand new portable toilet for the ladies an adjustable hitch for my tow vehicle .

interioir of boat is immaculate with all crapets seats in excellant condition.

checked out the integrity of the felk trailer as I been reading some bad reviews on it. all seems fine and towed the 70kms home well.
suprisingly the front of the boat trailer felt rather heavy compared to my last boat wich was the quintrex 500 freedom sport.
all i need to do is fix some interior electrical issues , the running lights dont work and Im missing the anchor light.

i just want to get a fish finder depth sonar so need to shop for one of these.

    Hi Muzzi

I had a Tohatsu tldi 90 on my last boat. Same block as your 70.

They are great motors. The key is to find a specialist Tohatsu service guy who knows them.

Heres a few tips re this motor:

Recommended oil is Valvoline 2 stroke. Yep, thats right, Valvoline. Cheap as chips, too!

Every 200 hours you should change the fuel filters on the engine and the drive belt for the compressor. These parts are a bit expensive, worth looking at part prices in the US and getting them sent out.

Regarding fuel filters, these engines demand clean fuel. S if the boat doesnt already have one, your number 1 priority should be to fit an inline fuel filt/water separating filter of the RACOR style. There are cheaper copies that work perfectly well. Change this filter yearly.

They use platinum tip plugs which are poisonously expensive here in Australia. Like $25 each. But you should get 2 years or 200 hours out of a set before they meed to be changed. Again, worth checking prices in the USA.

Finally, the standard Tohatsu alloy props are very ordinary performers. I put up with mine for a year or so, then had a chat with my mechanic who was a guru on the Toeys, raced them etc.

He recommended a Merc Vengeance stainless prop and I was lucky enough to find a second hand one on the internet. Well, what a difference that made! Transformed the boats performance and was like the engine had a turbo fitted! Plus it hung on so much better it wasnt funny.

So i would highly recommend that as an upgrade if it doesnt already have one.

You will find the engine is very fuel efficient and quieter than a normal 2 stroke.

    Hope this helps.

Rearding electronics, i like the Lowrance HDS 5's. You can get a EP60 fuel flow meter which goes into the fuel line and with a simple NMEA2000 network, will give you fuel flow, fuel used etc, and if you have a HDS5 combo which has GPS on the network, it will also give you fuel economy too.

Just watch out for side-on seas in that Webster - scary!!

    Cheers

    ML

Hey Moonlighter Thanks for your input it is much appreciated.
I've just replaced the 6 gang switches as they where corroded and electrics where not working as a result. I've also installed a new anchor light as it didn't come with one only the base.

I've also ordered the lowrance elite 4x dsi .
I'm using my Samsung note 2 (5 inch screen) as my gps using navionics maps downloaded from the Android Market.

For inshore work that should do me .

Looking forward to this weekend first ride in her

    Cheers

Good stuff Muzzy. Glad to be of assistance.

Just a quick note - i dont think that the Lowrance you have ordered can interface with a fuel flow sender....not 100% certain, but if thats important to you, might be worth double checking.

Muzzy, I reckon you got the buy of the year with that boat. The more i think about it, the more jealous I get. It the sort of buy that,
although I am not actively looking for a boat (finacial reasons), I would have found a way to buy it.....exactly what I would buy if I was looking - (lotto wins excepted lol).

    Cheers

Took the boat out last night from Roseville chase boat ramp. Did all the checking bungs in etc.
Launched boat all good made sure no leaking etc. Got back to the ramp 10hrs later put boat back on trailer then noticed water coming out.

Apparently there was two more bungs underneath the pod extensions now no sure how it didn't fill right up with water but when we were out there I did notice back of boat was lower though did not think much of it.

But boat performed well ate any waves it encountered the tohatsu dranklittle fuel .

End result very happy looking forward to more boating with it.
Just building confidence to ride more rough water .
