So since starting my new job i have managed to find a few keen fisho's and one that was pretty keen to get into the plastic craze and try this light gear fishing, had called him a couple times but he managed to get some time off from the wife n family and decided to hit mud in the tinny. I warned him it may be a wet ride over but more than happy to show him a few things that I know and hope it can come together and on a nice fish. He asked the plan on friday I said the plan is to catch snapper and hopefully get you your first good fish on plastics. So said be around at 4 and we'll leave then. Had the boat ready when he rocked up and we headed off, dropped in via pinkenba and out the river, beautiful weather about some mild cloud a little wind and perfect snapper weather. Was out drifting around and a few bites, some interest and I notice this boat coming over, though game this guy he is coming straight over... ohhh recognised the mugg, Lucas and up he throw a nice squire from mud. We had a chat and a laugh and drifted apart.. LoL Sorry.
So few casts and ol mate is getting it under control when on the drop zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz hahahah nice, Oh this ones a screamer. Got the lines in and ol mate was getting some line back we followed it for a bit and we seen some colour some up and under the net went.. Bam new PB, best fish on plastics happy as a pig in the proverbial after that fight I think we have another fisho hooked on the light gear or at least open to the idea you can get nice fish on the light gear. Few more drifts and zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz oh crap I got a nice fish here, bit of a tussle.. SPAT!!! OH @#$%, #$%^#@
Ok some composure and then ol mate gets another hit and zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz crap, get the lines in and he is playing it for a few good runs then.... SPAT!! OH @#$%, #$%^#@... oh well. More drifts and align ourselves up and then he gets another hit and this one is going fast zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz lines in and give chase..... few minutes then he gets some line back, around the boat he goes then SNAP!! Oh crap.
Some squire and grassies in the mix but really only managed to raise one good keeper but had a hell of a time doing it, was good to see someone enjoy themselves when you hook on to one of those snappz on the light gear it is really fun. So home to the ramp, back the trailer through the maze of cars and boats organising themselves and up she goes and home by 12.00. Great day and good to see old Lucas and get that first solid fish on plastics, no better feeling it never gets old.
Tight lines all and a Happy New Year!
