good to see some macks being caught ...what was the bay like glass? do you want my Mango Mackrel Madness recipe? Cheers .
did another stint at moreton friday. up at 2.30 am and arrived at the first beacon just on dawn. no bait there or at the second but the 3rd had a little show so deployed the bait jig for a few small yakkas. every drop the jig came back with less hooks until i had none. only had 2 jigs on board and they were gone fairly quickly. sent a livey back down and zzzzzzz. spottie on board at just under 70cm. the next 10 minutes saw all my livies smashed and no more fish on board. did a few drifts with slugs and managed another just over legal. i have decided it's time to make my own bait jigs now - with wire and slightly larger hooks. couldn't get the same hits on slugs so decided to go for a troll. minutes into it and i met wayne kerr (jnr) who was in such a hurry to get to moreton he drove straight over my lines. luckily no damage and i travel on my merry way. an hour later and i met his old man - big wayne kerr (snr) who also seemed to be in a bit of a hurry. i feel sorry for some blokes with enormous boats as it seems they have no cash left to buy their own tackle. big wayne kerr shot straight across my stern and decided that he needed my halco diver (complete with wire leader) more than i did. i almost did a mossy and chase after him but alas i don't have mossy's bulging biceps (or forehead vein) so just re-rigged and carried on. had no joy on the troll at all and covered a lot of ground at various speeds with skirts and hb's. at least there's a feed for tonight.

Good to see you got a feed anyway dave there are plenty of Wayne Kerr's on the bay this time of year I saw plenty at the Scarbrough Boat Ramp yesterday they have the whole bay to travel across but just seem to get off blasting passed guys in their tinny's pretty sad to say the least mate but it happenes. I have the same thing happen to me when coming out of the Channel in my tinny you get the big boats come out of the newport channel and cut straight across you and you get knocked about in their wash or they travel right beside you heading out to a point you just need to stop until they have gone hopefully karma will catchup with them mate and that deepdiver and wire get jammed in their prop shaft.
definately that time of year mick. i would have thought that prop seals on big boats would cost a bit more to replace than on a tinny (slipping it to start with) so thought these blokes may actually pay enough attention to look after their investments, but apparently not.

Another big effort there netmaker. They look very much like schoolies in the picture but then again i wasn't there to see them fresh. Ben
Nice macs there Dave, yep some big dick heads out and about ATM.I too had some fun with them at Hutchies yesterday.
Life is short fish hard!!!
21,6 Sea Fox WA Pro ....
Hi Dave. Well done. Nice macks. And yes, those certainly look like schoolies to me. Simplest way to be 100% sure is to lift up the dorsal fin, schoolies have a white patch on it whereas spotties dont.
They both go great on the BBQ, regardless!
We met your mate Wayne's chinese cousin at the boat ramp near Seaworld yesterday morning.
Dron Go was his name i think. Had his car and trailer parked at the top of the ramp waiting for his dekkies to arrive, when there was a steady procession of other boats trying to launch.
I politely inquired as to what he was doing effectively blocking access to one lane while so many other people were trying to launch, and he said Oh, i suppose I should move out of the way?
I agreed and suggested that would be a good move before someone rearranged his face for him......
No brains, no brains at all. Or, brain locked in neutral?

Oh thanks Dave hahahahaha mate some good fish but bummer on the lure loss due to idiots, there always seems to be a few I am getting better at my boat rage though I am trying to be a better pack leader like Cesar Millan.... LoL Seriously though nice fish mate I think the baits jigs would be a good idea, maybe something for barry to branch into with his range.
Nice work mate, catch up soon. Tight Lines
Mossy - Your friendly moreton bay pal
Nice catch Dave. Bet the ride over there was nicer then last time.
Hang your head in shame Netty. No PB's there, no coloured shirt, no ausfish shirt, no bikini babes, I don't think I need to go on any further...........
Well done Dave.
We ran into a few of them mixing it up with the schools of tuna on the way back in. Only managed to hook one and it spat the hook at the boat.
If the Hoo and Black season thus far is anything to go by the macks are going to fire soon.
grant. cheers mate but i think i will stick to my policy of nothing under 60. reckon they are too small under that anyway.
mossy. wire bait jig is made already
todddo. much nicer mate. don't even think i cracked her a little bit this time...
jj. my head IS hung. i thought you would have seen that from the picture angle. no pb's, no flash shirt (i'm told ausfish shirt is in the post) and unfortunately no bikini babes.

PS Dave, the bait jigs are 3 for $1 in Japan. I brought back $20 worth from our trip earlier this year. Dont know why they are so expensive here....?
