Stolen crab pot advice
Thought I would pass this on after talking to marine park rangers this morning as I know i have just copped it in the past an said nothing when we have had pots stolen ,The advice given to us re stolen pots was to report any stolen pots to your local police station as soon as you know they have been taken, so that if they show up where they should not be you have some proof that they where not in your possesion. as the low life trend up this way now is to steel pots and floats when they want to break the law
The other suggestion was to keep a journel with gps marks where you set your pots.

Re: Stolen crab pot advice
Hi Jaymart i knew of someone that put broken bits of razor blades in the rope by untwisting it and putting them in,he did not get the guy but did see the blood trail on the boat ramp in the morning when he went to check his pots and guess what no more stolen pots in his area, not something id recommend, yesterday i saw a guy sinking pots if they were stolen theres no was of catching him unless the fisheries see him doing it,its always been a problem if you leave them in and not look after them thats the only way of not getting them stolen, but theres a lot of weed around with big tides and this claims a lot of pots too not stolen just disappear with the tide into deeper water never to be seen again and witht he amount of boat traffic this time of year with all of the sometime boaties on the water a lot of floats get run over and this too adds to the missing pots.

Re: Stolen crab pot advice
Saw an old bloke out from of Wynnum Creek today just hovering around some pots. I was in my kayak and started heading over to him to see if he caught any. He didn't see me until he half pulled up a pot and I sung out "G'day mate catch any keepers yet?" He then stuttered, "oh wrong pot this isn't my pot". Then took off like a bat out of hell. These thieves are bloody everywhere mate. I dont understand how hard it is to spend $100 bucks on pots instead of stealing other peoples.
