    marlin lures

Just thought with all the marlin mayhem at the moment...

I wanted to find out what has been the best or luckiest lure on your boat so far and at what position. For me it has been the right corner with a pink and black williamson skirt 20cm long.

Any reports on the larva skirts that have been heavily promoted this year?

Pretty sure there was a poll on this a few weeks back, check it out. Think purple and black got a lot of mentions.

    Re: marlin lures

This was my most successful lure on my last trip. Pakula cockroach in purple/blue run in the shortest position about 10 m back. I also got a hit on a blue/silver lure, but no hits on a number of different lumo patterns

Purple and black did the most damage last week with lumo gree a close second. These were Ebay specials . We don't use anything over $10.00 a lure. Shotgun and long corner for ours

Just bought one of them myself. Is the rig it comes with OK or did you re-reig it?

Nothing wrong with the lure, line broke at the reel, more like a nick in the line or something.

The ones we used were straight out of the packet and worked fine. They were the ones Bull bought. Mine were sitting on my driveway at home
The ones I have bought have been modified with wire under the resin head and a touch of a flame to the cut off end of the crimp leader to make a ball too big to pull through

Yea, the fish ran hard for a bit then popped a few cm off the reel. There was a definite kink in the line near the spool just before the break

    Yea Mate

Great service and their gear works fine. I personally think its a big w@NK spending the best part of a days earnings on a piece of plastic and resin getting towed at 15km/hr +. The fish see no fine detail at that speed

    G'day

I bought the same set of prowlers off them a few weeks ago, great service and stoked with the lures.

I did change the hooks to gamagatsu SL12's in 10/0 though, even though the original hooks look fine, i've heard of enough to warrant the change over.

Will be out in my 15'er tomorrow and Friday pulling these around, cannot wait!
