Great day out with a mate.
Heard all about all the Marlin being caught so headed out from Raby Bay 4am
By the time we had made the SPB crossing picked up a few livies and started our first drift it was already 6.30am 7.00am
We went past point lookout past Shag rock and all the other rocks and reefs and put ourselves in the 40metre mark and drifting back into the 25 metre mark
4 livies out on top one on small sinker and one near the bottom, wasn't long before the first Dolphin fish was up and jumping as the other rods were coming in the balloon took off and a second was on, 2 nice 8kg female Dorado in the esky, saw the other boats trawling and could see the Marlin jumping at the back of a few boats decided to trawl back to our Dorado hookup spot , as we had drifted a fair way South and Marlin was what we had come for
Nearly on our spot and we are on with the first of the day, on light gear we manage this one after a few blistering runs, few pics and back he goes, mates first and he is stoked.
Trawl around some more and drop another after a few jumps decide to try livies again but nothing on the drift, back to Trawling and we pick a second one up for myself nice one and a first for me too every one else catches them on my boat.
Lumo pink and Lumo green pushers 4 to 6 inch
Water temp uncalibrated 27.6 degrees
We found that if we upped the speed to 12 to 14km/h and a bit higher this is when we had the best results
Current north to south Wind light NE turned light SE
BAR MMMmmm not too bad on the way back but dodgy in the Morning .
When we left at 11am to head home " prior committments" the Marlin were free jumping like Mullet all over the place
Knowing what I now know we should have had at least 5 or 6 in the boat, but getting 2 Marlin and 2 Dorado is not a bad Morning out..
You have all seen the pictures before so I wont post them
Cheers
Mark
