They are still there but on isolated spots the current is running that hard you are only in the strike zone for what feels like 10-30 seconds meaning lots of big long drifts over barren ground and lots of running back up current. It feels you burn more fuel on bottom bashing days in summer running back upcurrent to redrift than trolling days with the motor going all day.

I pick up the odd grassy or snapper on slugs under bait either gathering live bait or casting at spottys and tuna and letting it sink a bit or spinning it off the bottom.

There are a few reefs in closer with a lot of wahoo hanging around. Got one on a 150gm and have lost a few hooks. If going out through sth passage try the 35's. It's had the odd king and aj lately. Few and far between. As Smithy said the current is running pretty hard. So look at the 300gm jigs to get down when you find bait. Or drop smaller jigs early before bait so its down and try for snapper and pearlies on jigs. The other option is going to the 7's and jigging for wahoo. If all else fails throw some divers on the jig outfits and troll for them. Hope you have a good time n the weather comes good for you. Plenty of options if you search for them.
