The road into Stanage is a bit rough but you don't need 4X unless it has been raining a lot. Some of the creek crossings can be a little tricky but you should have no issues. Your 4.5m boat will be fine up there. You can work up Thirsty Sound for Crabs, Barra and Salmon or head out the front. You are well within range of a lot of good fishing country including Marble Island/Dukes as well as a lot of shoal country
I will be up there this May

Dont go.......you would hate it.....
thanks horse looking at going at christmas time for a play but will be busy
I reckon the Crabbing would be downright dangerous in Summer. Rain would be a big concern for me though

the Singapore army have just finished and they usually grade the road . You wont have a problem in a two wheel drive ute unless it rains . There will be a lot of campers there but there are quite a few camping options and rental houses . Offshore might be dependant on the weather so you will probably have to stick to the creeks. Go to the pub / shop and ask a little advice . It does empty out on low tide .
tides are crazy big and the size of the crabs you can't explain how big they are been up there 2 times went over to the marble islands fishing caught some nice trout and red emperior some big cod around to spent 2 weeks last time then got stuck for 4 days rained in great place with the islands out the front just got to watch the ramp from the huge tides
.been going up there for a week for the last 3 year's, secret is to pick the small tides. Crabbing is awesome and offshore even better if the wind is not to strong.
