Thread: Hole in the sea

    Hole in the sea

I was talking to an old guy who was motoring along just off Burnett Heads and inadvertantly went straight into a whirlpool. He said spray went over the boat, but he survived.
I saw on TV the other day, the most dangerous water in the UK, strong currents and a whirlpool.... looked bad.
And a mate saw one in Great Sandy Straight ,Harvey Bay.

Just wondering if anyone has had any experiences with them.... and are they dangerous ?

Not as dangerous as a NQ chop is to a cat.

    Giffo,
There is something totally different in NQ chop compared to chop in any other state, or the world I believe, if you believe the NQ fishermen.
Personally, I think they just need to speed up & ride over the notorious "NQ chop"

I have not seen any whirlpools of a size that would be worry some in my tub.......yet. No doubt even the largest pleasure craft would have troubles in some of the whirlpools around though.
