What ctek for a 24v system

Hey guys so I am on the hunt for a new charger for my 24v system for the minn Kota - 2 105 amp/h full river agm's.. Looking at a ctek what model do people recommend?? Is ctek still the way to go?? Had a look at some older posts but was needing the model number.. Also is it true that there are two types - one that has a 2 year warranty and one with a 5 year warranty .. Is there a marine version .. I just want a plug into the wall and connect to the battery's when I get home system not on board

Do you need to recharge overnight or i there no great rush?
Are you happy to be jumping in & out of the boat swapping connections & monitoring the progress or do you want to plug it in & forget it?

CTEK make a 15A "marine" charger than can sit outside in the weather. You will, of course, need to charge one battery at time.

I bought one for a tad under $300, delivered, from this crowd ... http://rvtek.com.au/store/index.php?...roducts_id=154 That was the best price in Australia at the time.

As per a previous thread of mine, their delivery performance was stunning as was the warranty performance of the distributor which happens to be in Brisbane. See my previous thread ... http://www.ausfish.com.au/vforum/sho...attery-charger

Re: What ctek for a 24v system

I bought a M300 Ctek a few days ago as I have been having trouble with the 3 deep cycles in my boat.
2 weekends ago when supposedly fully charged they would not turn the prop on my bow mount.
From what I can work out,my old charger has died and even though it says it is charging it was not so over time my batteries went so dead they would not register on the hydrometer.
Every cell was under 1100 on the hydro across the 3 batteries.
I got this new M300 and started charging the first bank (2 x 6v 240 AH) batteries and after an hour the CTEK said they were charged.
The hdro said under 1100 so I thought the batteries were damaged from no charge for so long.
I was expecting an $800 battery bill for replacement so I was not happy.
I switched the CTEK to recond mode to see what happened and after 6 hours the hydrometer was reading 1200 so I switched back to full charge mode and a few hours later they were showing in the green.
Same happened with the house battery but this one was worse than the cranking batteries as it was not getting any charge from the motor at all due to being always isolated.
It wouldnt accept a charge at all so I went to recond mode overnight and this morning all cells are back to 1200.
I just switched to full charge so later today I will see if it takes a full charge like the other bank did.
So far I am extremely impressed with the CTEK M300.
It also comes with a bonus 0.8ah charger to leave permanently hooked up.

Re: What ctek for a 24v system

I have the XT14000, purchased in 2011. Its mounted under the side console and permanently connected to the 2 batteries that power the minn kota. I pretty much leave it on when the boat is out of the water (I leave a smaller ctek on the cranking battery as well). I haven’t had any worries with the unit just plug it in and it does its thing. The batteries are always good to go.

I also have a redarc SBI12 (battery isolator) rigged to the redarc VI360D (boosts 12 to 24v) to charge while the outboard is running.

I have foundt his system to work really well and have never had an issue with battery power for the minn kota.

    Cheers
    Justin
