Muddy,
do you have an external antenna for the unit or only an internal?
Got an external one on the hard top.
- if you have an external check the connections to the back of the unit, disconnect and use the internal. Will do.
- if you have an internal then I would be looking to find an external antenna to hook it up to, to test it with.
Is your radio wired to your GPS for DSC function? did you test it with the radio turned off?
Yes to the bit about them being hooked up for DSC function but no to testing it with the radio off.
Low volts on your radio may just be a connection issue. your Garmin GPS should have an overlay to allow you to display battery voltage as well.
It does but I don't run with that overlay on.
Also you might want to consider if anything could be obstructing the signal or interferring with it, Have you changed the position of the unit or could it have moved in the dash, or changes to the roof or windscreen etc?
There is definitely nothing obstructing the external aerial but I did play around with the dash the other day to install a CD player so in turn I had to unplug the GPS and take it out to mount the CD player.Since that I've done a full days fishing and another 2 hour run in the bay and it worked fine and then on Saturday it just started playing up.
