    Unhappy Lowrance HDS Navionics Chart

    Hi
    Re:Lowrance HDS 7
Not being known for my tech skills I mistakenly imported my Navionics chart into my files on the unit while trying to download some marks.
I only use the Lowrance once a year on dories at swains and am not familiarised to the hds software settings
previously i had a Lowrance global map 7200 in another boat and found the global map more user friendly in backing up data and files
I am unable to select export the Navionics chart set out of my files back onto the sd card
    Any help greatly appreciated

    Re: Lowrance HDS Navionics Chart

Are you saying that the chart file is no longer on the Navionics SD card??? Have you checked to see if maps still appear on the HDS screen ??

Double check that first. Every time I have saved waypoint files from the SD card to the HDS internal memory, it leaves the original file on the SD card and simply copies the data to the HDS. I would be amazed if you have somehow managed to actually move the map file from the SD card onto the HDS memory.

But if it is actaully gone from the card, and you can find the data file on the HDS internal memory, your only chance might be to try to save it back to the same card.

Otherwise, I think you are in big trouble and may be up for a new Navionics card.

And, make note to self: never ever save gps data files or anything else onto the Navionics map card. too expensive to fix if there is a problem. Use a spare blank SD card for such jobs!!!!

    Cheers

    Hi Moonlighter
    Thanks for the return post
I have checked the sd card in my computer and there is no data on the card at all
The problem I have is the navionics chart is in my files and the function to save data will not allow me to select the nav file then export the file back to the sd card
    I think I'm in trouble.
As Willo mentioned below computers and tech stuff is not my speciality
I now have a Garmin 5012 touch in the Haines and find the function Ripples proof LOL

    Re: Lowrance HDS Navionics Chart

Only other suggestion is to call Lowrance customer service and have a talk to them. Contact number is:

    1300NAVICO

If anyone knows how to help, it will be them. It's a good idea to make the call from the boat with everything ready to go so they can talk you thru some procedures to try to fix it. I have found them to be pretty helpful with problem solving.
