Thread: Suzuki DF175 4 stroke 300 hour service

Thumbs up Suzuki DF175 4 stroke 300 hour service

Suxuki service pack (anodes, impeller, plugs, oil screen, filter) $168, labour $170 (2 1/2 hrs), oils $67 + $9 workshop materials and enviro levy. All up $456.

Quite reasonable by my reckoning. Top customer service to boot at Fraser Marine Eden NSW.

    Just FYI

Yep, I am happy with it, just posted to inform. Many arguments on 2 vs 4 stroke, from what I can see, oil cost is 50 cents per hour 4stroke, anodes impeller etcetera would be similar regardless.

My df 175 300 service cost $800 and they told me that i should get it done twice a year will i be going back f@#k no. The sad thing is that they had done a great job on a repair that another mob had created and was a very reasonable priced, don't know what they hope to achieve. I have given up arguing with these kind of people and just go somewhere else

50 cents per hour seems high for oil. Is that gearbox oil as well? I don't think a DI 2stroke would use 50 cents per hour.

pretty sure it would, but not 100% sure where you get the 50c per hour bit from.

    Noelm,

$50 engine oil, 100 hours, by my calc that is 50 cents per hour. For comparison I suppose that the average rate of consumption per hour is required for a real comparison, at 20 knot cruise, 20 lts per hour, so for a 2 stroke at 100:1 that would equate to .2 litres of oil per hour. Obviously not all hours are spent at cruise, lower consumption when trolling or idling, much higher when the loud pedal is used.

Perhaps someone who runs offshore, does a bit of trolling, and bottom bashes occasionally could provide info on how much oil they use between services (100 hours) as a helpful comparison.

Regardless, compared to the fuel used, oil is negligible cost, impeller/kit is $1.68 per hour, and $1.70 per hour labour cost (hours of operation), and at cruise, $35 per hour for fuel.

I posted because I looked for this type of info before we bought.

The kicker for us is a 600k return trip to Bermi, plus a 200k return tow to the service centre. 90 litres of tow vehicle fuel. I obviously need to find work in Eden

    Cheers

    Thy
