Hi all
I have just bought a 200 series GX cruiser, all the specs. I could find say they have a 45 litre sub tank , but I can't find the sub filler, any help please.
hhmm that's a bit of a shit system, I think Toyota sort of made the sub tank sillier and cheaper as the years went on, the 80 series had a "knob" inside the filler cap to fill either tank and two seperate gauges in the car, plus a switch to swap from one to the other, the 100 series, just had two "holes" in the filler cap to use, and a switch inside, but a single gauge, now they basicaly have 1 big tank (but in two bits) so if you get a (say) load of water from a servo, then both tanks are contaminated!!! the Prado is a silly sytem too, it has two tanks, no switch, and an idiotic fuel gauge that works from full to empty on the main tank, and from empty to full on the sub (the gauge works backwards) what are these "engineers" thinking?
I am pretty sure most owners would know that, and be quite familiar with how it all works, I just personally think "they' have gone way too crazy with what was a simple and rather fool proof twin tank system, I had a perfect example with my old diesel 80 series years ago, my "mate" filled the tank with petrol, with the simple 80 series setup, it was no major drama, simply switch to the reserve and get home to drain the tank at home, with all the tools needed, but with a new 200 series, that is not going to happen, as both tanks are connected together (sort of), what was a pretty well seperate fuel tank, valve and two gauges has evolved into a simpler, (to make) but not as independant, fuel system.
