That was my thought too at first kercus but it had very rubbery lips like a morwong

Black sweetlip, which is just a very dark blubberlip
we get a few around Coorooman Creek and they can range from that colour to red dirt brown with pale strips

I'm with IFISHCQ. Caught one years ago in the Noosa River. Very nice on the plate.

All but identified it yourself - Blubber Lip Bream is a local name for them up this way (Cairns) - they are also Known as Brown/Black Sweetlip - depending on the colour variant you catch - and sometimes called a morwong (rightly or wrongly i don't know).
Don't know that i'd rate them on the table though.

Grants says it's a brown morwong. it could be a sooty morwong but looks like it has strong dorsal spines, unlike the sooties.
