Those boxs are relays ,i think and could well be your problem. What brand is your motor and year?
Can someone with electric knowledge solve my problem. my trim operates spasmodically in down only.. Cheecked switches and wiring to trim motor all good.. The wires on engine look to run to 2 large fuse? boxes or switches about 30mil square. Can it be these that could be faulty.. If have to call in auto electrician will do.. Just trying fix prob first myself if possible..??? Cheers Paul...

I had problems with mine on a couple of occasions first time was dirty connection at relays and 2nd time it was the anodes had degraded to the point that they were dragging on the trim rods causing it to not trim down.
The two relays are often something that will fail in time and perhaps the first thing to eliminate. They should be cheap enough just to put two new ones in regardless, then see what happens next.
I have just bought hella ones in the past and just sealed them with a bit of sika or silicon, they were half the price of the genuine ones and worked just as well if not better. Doesn't hurt to keep a spare either.
Can you hear the trim motor running in both up & down? What brand is your motor and year?
Motor is 95 mercury 115 ..No fed .When not working in down mode there is no sound or movement . You can try again a couple times in the next couple of minutes and then itwill work again .Thanks For All Your Imput..
When you try it and it doesn't work can you hear or feel one of the small relays clicking?
The relays are the 30mm square things you mentioned.
Is this what you're looking at?
