Caribbean 26 SF: Yearly running costs ?
Hi guys
I am planning to buy a used Caribbean 26 SF to use on the Gold Coast as a day boat with wife and friends (70%) and light fishing (30%) (I am a very new fisherman).
I am looking at a quite recent model (2006/2008) and I wish to invest between 80K$ to 100K$ max.
I am also interested in a Caribbean 27 SF but not sure the extra money (apparently minimum 135 K$ for a 2009 model) is worth it as I don't see too many differences except a better flying bridge and a slightly wider hull.
I would like to know what kind of yearly running costs I need to budget:
- Insurance
- maintenance
- mooring (i will prefer dry storage)
- other costs?
Also realistically, what is the average budget per day for petrol for a "normal day" on the water (realistically max 4 hours high cruising speed) (By the way what is the realistic high cruising speed of this boat - recent model with 2 V6 Mercruiser 220 HP- as I got many discrepancies on the info available on the net).
Is someone has any experience on this boat and what are pros and cons?
My interest in this boat is mostly linked to the advantages i can see in the layout (small cabin, cockpit protected by hard top with possibility to drive from cockpit or flybridge), seaworthy hull, well known brand in Australia, good looking, versatility.
But I have never test it on the water. If someone owns one, living in the Gold Coast/Brisbane area and could do it a tour for me and my wife, i will appreciate a lot.
I am ready to pay for fuel and time if necessary.
Thank You
JP
