Outrigger positioning and rigging set up help?
Hi,
I'm in the process of buying and soon to be setting up outriggers on my 23 footer. I have worked out where I'm going to put the bases and have been researching to find out how to correctly rig up the poles.
From what I can work out the poles in the down position should be inline with the transom and about 4-5 meters above the water? sound about right?
The bit that I'm having issues is there seems to be 101 ways and idea's how the rigging it's self should be set up. Ie tag line's or release clips and either one or two lines of each pole..
So I'm mainly just wondering what everyone else does and if they have any pictures of their set ups. even links or drawings would be very helpful. I know it seems like there is more then one option but as I beginner to using outriggers I would just like to set it up once and be done with as opposed to trial and error.
preferred brands of part's would be useful also.
So far I have ordered a set of 18foot poles from precision rods and about to order reelax gunnel mount bases . As I have spoken to reelax and they assure me that them bases are defiantly strong enough to accept 18 foot poles providing then are mounted to a strong enough surface.
anyway Thanks in advance for any input.

Heya Dave
Have you looked at the Reelax rigging kits.
What type and price are the bases you are getting from Reelax

hi,
Reelax gunnel mount, but buying from escapin tackle as they are a approved seller, with the same lifetime warranty but cheaper then directly through reelax..
I have looked at the reelax kits but they are not cheap for what you get compared similar items.
It's also the issue of some people recommending using a twin line per pole and from memory reelax dont offer that.
In saying that I don't even know if thats the best option??
I think I just need advice to make up my mind
