Hey, DaveNkelly, I think the Reelax bases were only 38mm like most, i could be wrong. I have also been told that they are not the best quality? I have not looked at them myself, just what i have read on forums!
Do you have to use the splined gunnel mounts?
The Reef Rigger or Junior bases are far superior in every way.

Hi, I have fitted heaps of Precision riggers, the I/D on the Reelax gunnel mounts are 40.8mm. Are you using the 15' or 18' poles?
I have read the same thing about reelax gunnel bases so I emailed and asked. Reelax stated to me in an email that the hold a buyers lifetime warranty on them bases and are easily strong enough to support 18 foot poles, the reason they recommend only 4.5m poles is its hard to find something strong enough to bolt them to.
I'm getting some ally plate welded in to bolt them to. thinking 10-12mm? should hold them down.
but if anyone knows of other defects that have please let me know.
You won't have any issues with Reelax gear Dave.
It has been highly regarded around the world for 50 years and is used on many multi million dollar game boats.
The factory is in Beenleigh if you ever wanted to inspect the gear.
Hi, I just feel they will suit best, as it's a trailer boat they need to be removed.
and the reef and junior take up a fairly large surface area in which if I attached to the sides of my hardtop would reduce vision to much and from what I understand them two are harder to remove quickly.
I guess I sorta just felt that with a lifetime warranty as long as I make sure they will never come apart other then when I want them to once set up what other issues can I have?
Aussie, I got the PM.. thanks.
I'm in cairns so unable to view the gear personally.
I have heard different things pro and con about the gunnel mount bases but as for build quality anyone offering a lifetime warranty must be pretty confident..< providing they follow through with it >.
a couple of questions but..
Have you ever heard about them falling out in bad weather?
Do you know if they follow through with their warranty's?
cheers
I have never heard of them falling apart what so ever.
I know of many boats running the gunnel mounts and they all love them.
As for warranty claims,I have never had one come back through me or even ever heard of one.
There gear is tried and tested over many years on thousands of game boats world wide and it is well engineered and very bulletproof.
I have had several customers request upgrades on their orders and Reelax has done nothing but bend over backwards to fulfill the changes.
They are awesome to work with and you will never have an issue with them.
That's what I wanted to hear.
You cant see an issue running 18 foot poles from them bases?
Now I just need to decide what and how to set up the rigging.
Tag lines or release clips? one or two lines per pole?
I already have an assortment of rigging gear and can make a fair bit myself at work if needed. work comes in handy for that..lol
can anyone send me a picture, drawing or link to help see and decide the options?
thanks
Hey PB, I was only going to go the 15 poles. As it is only a trailer boat i am restricted for storage and i think they would be adequate.
I don't think you would have a problem using those poles but I am more than happy to ring George at Reelax on Monday and ask him just to make sure.
Scrotty, have you looked at the 4.5m Reelax poles that suit those gunnel mounts perfectly.
They are well priced at $551 compared to other brands.
