Jim, I have never tried for yakkas at roonies before. Didn't know they were there. Care to share with us how you found them and where we should look?

If anyone is still on dry land and wants a trip out this afternoon till tomorrow afternoon with me and my young fella Brodie, call me, boat is hooked on the cruiser in Bundy as my crewy has pulled the pin at the last minute... would probably leave the harbour around 3pm, head to Rooneys for the night, daylight start Saturday over the spit, return to harbour by sundown Saturday afternoon. Kev. 0408 848 564. (if no one calls in the next couple hours, I will probably do a run up early tomorrow morning, stay tommorow night at Rooneys if there is any one left up there then with the missus to make up the crew). If that fails, it's depression rum time!

Reports already starting to filter through via SMS.Don't want to wreck anything but I'm hearing the terms "Best day fishing ever"....."left em swimming around the boat to go and catch some reefies"........."15kg Job fish"......"all boats caught multiple billies".....

Re: Hervey Bay M&G 23rd Nov.

I fished up there Thursday, Friday and came back in Sat morning. Thursday was a glass out and we caught some good reefies including a cracking red not far off 17kg but the sharks were terrible and made fishing very tough. Most of the other boats were out by mid morning Friday and started trolling for great results. I'm pretty sure most boats scored at least a couple of bill fish each and also a few sailfish mixed among them. I started trolling a few hours after the others and the action was just insane. In just over two hours we went 31-18-8 on black marlin and at times had 3 or more billies fighting over the one lure. Double hook ups not uncommon.

We all left the hot marlin bite to go chase some reefies and I'm pretty sure Horse ended up with a cracking green jobbie around 15kg. We headed back into Roonies to get out of the wind for a good night rest. I headed back in Sat morning as I had used most of my fuel and covered 400km. The other guys were all heading back out and I'm yet to hear how they all went.

Should be a ton of great pics & vids from this trip.

    Regards Greg
