Yea if the weather does not play the game we are going to be stuck inside with only the Marlin, Longtails, Cobia, spotties and golden trevs to play with.

What would the inside of Breaksea Spit be like if its blowing a bit too much to get offshore? It may still be worth a look.

Low tide at midday so wind against waves in the morning. yuk ! Down closer to the point, not so bad as wave and wind almost going the same way, if it is a SE wind, that is.

Maybe we need to bring a kayak and just crab up Wathumba.... really good tides for it.......low tide at midday... drop pots first up,,,pick then up last thing........ ??

Some good Crabs up there but some skinny water before you hit the better spots. I reckon Perry could get up there if he went really fast

If we go in reverse we can dredge a channel. Note to Brett- bring a spare prop

Sorry all I have been away for the past week, just got back to Bundy tonight, catching up on everything, well this weather is debatable, but my POV... says all weather sites say the similar direction, so that is a good thing and none of them forcast it to be too much over 15 knots which is another good thing, it can be blowing 25 knots and as Phill said except for the 10 minute open channel chop from the harbour to Moon point, the next 50 miles up the western side of Fraser within 1.5 miles from the beach would be near glassy flat. If you went direct from the harbour to Rooneys in a 20 knot southeaster it would belt you the further you got out from the island. I have gone up to Rooneys and further around under the light house area and anchored at night in glassy calm waters 30 meters off the beach, then had a following sea out to the crossing, then trolled around all day at 7 knots in the slop (with no problems) and crossed back over the bar at the 13 mile end in the afternoon and had about 10 miles of uncomfortable seas before it dropping out to under a half meter chop for the run back towards the island on the inside of the bar which takes out the oceanic swell if there is any... This is in an old 6.2mt pride, so anything bigger would be even better... It does get uncomfortable but if it's 10-15 knots east south easterly then I would say most boats from 5.8mts and up could get a trip over the bar, you could head out and if its too crapy for you, just turn around and head back to the glassy calm waters any where within a mile or two from the beach and enjoy the day on the water. It would be very unusual should you not catch a plethora of pelagics in the calm waters or just on the edge of the sea change from calm to slightly choppy which is easily found when you start to spill ya beer on the dash..... It would be wonderfull to have it under 10 knots, but with no north westerly forcasted at this time, then a southeasterly wind up to 15 knots for a Meet and greet trip up the western side of Fraser would be a reasonable forcast for such an outing... We can all just follow Bull out and sit in his wake, so all should be good, if you don't go , then you'll never ever know.... at the worst, run the length of the island 30 meters off the beach and back again, and that alone will make you smile :-) I just need to await the father in laws medical operation progress booked in for Wednesday/Thursday before I can confirm I can make it. Fingers crossed I should be running up the island Friday afternoon about 430pm, or forst light Saturday morning, time will tell...

Here are my marks that I used for the bar crossing and anchorage areas depending on the wind and sea states, I have not used the 4mile crossing for 2 years, but if I was to cross there, I would be using these marks as the track still. I crossed the 13 mile 3 weeks ago and had 4.5 metres of water still under the boat at the shallowest area. Cheers Kev. (WGS84 datum)
