Which ramp is the best to head there from ??

I was thinking of taking the better half and dropping her at Kingfisher so she can get all pampered while I am trying to catch a fish..
Do they let you use the ramp where the barge drops vehicles at Kingfisher as I could put the boat in there and head North to Roonies ??

I love the Spottie Mack sessions....... when they are on.... usually later in the year though.

I could line this up with some work ( about a weeks worth ) I have in Maryborough in November.... Thinking... thinking !!

You can put in at Hervey Bay marina or down at River Heads, both have public access boat ramps.

Hervey Bay will be better.

1 lane access. limited parking, not secure and a mongrel to retrieve in a S/W wind.

Kingfisher Bay Resort has a visitors bar, pool and eatery. You can drop passengers off on beach, at jetty ( at right times ) or barge landing ramp, at right times...

When do the spotties normally turn up phill?

They can turn up when the weather heats up, so certainly they can be there in November. They get thicker around the end of December ( from my experience )

You can find them from south near the sandfalts on the outside of Big Woody Island, north through Moon Point, Off Coongul Creek, out from Wathumba, Arch Cliffs reef and right up and past Roonies Hole. I have been amongst them and only had to wave a slug in the water beside the boat to get a fish and they were as far as the eye could see. Best areas in my experience is from close in Wathumba and head west to the banks.....about 6 k's up to 8k';s. sometimes the spotties push the baitfish into the shallows. Also, around this area are Mack tuna, GT's, Longtail Tuna they will spool you in 3 seconds and spanish macks, BUT, Spanish from this area ( Platypus Bay ) are a no take species... Ciguatera poisioning !!!!

Best lure........... that's easy for me....... Lucky-Phills Mackmauler Slugs in 40gm no wire.......... 60lb mono leader.

FYI.... look for WHITE birds working............ sssshhhhhh !!!!

little pic of session from H/bay. They don;t get much over the 5 -6 kg mark, but usually plenty of them. Bag limit 5 in possession.




Haven't got a pic of the slug, but here is a couple I knocked up a little while ago. FYI, there is NOTHING like them on the open market.



ask around, those that have used them know why these are the best.

Price..... ? OK that will be 5 x 0 = $0.00 .......... OH, plus gst.............. that makes it....... ? you may or may not.. ? have to provide your own hooks and split-rings

All services providers have access, but up at Roonies you will probably only get Telstra and maybe Optus.
