Marvin,
what's your POV on this weather. Still a bit early to call, but IMPO which does not count for much, I would not like to see it any worse.

The 6 to 8 second period between sets will make for interesting traveling IMO.

Pilll where do you get that weather forecast from?
I got a TXT from Boat Hog this morning ready to go tomorrow for a week I think he is a little excited to get up there maybe?
Plan A still at this stage, get up there and on the water Thurs arvo
cheers Murf
Seriously, I have headed out of Urangan Harbour with a Strong Wind Warning. ( SE )
It gets a tad rough from the tip of Big Woody across to Moon Creek... about 6 kilometers. After that, if you follow the coast up the island there is no issues.
You just have to decide where you'll fish.... open water will get choppy, but you can find fish in close.
Here's a plan anyway. ON Saturday if anyone fishes around the Wathumba area on the inside,,, lunch here:-
S24.59.300..........E 153. 12.900. this is in close to the beach and shallow, ideal to anchor up in calm water for a feed and make new plans if things are not working out. A place close by could also allow you to drop a line while making decisions... S24.59.114 ....E 153.11. 539 ..... known as the Gravel Patch.
I get my info from Bouyweather Premium and the forecast is for an area just north of Rooney Point.
15 knots SE is not an issue on the inside..... but as you get further into open water, it does. Worst wind, and I will not travel in it.... NW
I have also looked at surface tempratures... seems the warm currents ( 24 degress ) are running up the outside of Fraser and around 24.60.00 153.40.00... from memory, is the closest point to the spit. Water around Rooneys and inside is 23... degrees.
more later............

Yes Phill. Very wise words.
Between, Woody and Fraser is the only place I've ever copped a green one over the bow. Run out tide against 20-25 Kn notherlies. Really steep, close together waves that looked like a ride out of Dreamworld..... wave rolled up the bow in slow motion and went straight through the zip out windows in the clears and into our laps. Mrs Hog (who wasn't even Mrs Hog back then) was not impressed!!
I'm guessing strong southerlies with a run in tide would have similar effects?
Cheers,
