    Offshore Frazer Info Needed

    Hi Guys,
Looking at going off Frazer Monday Tuesday next week just after the new moon. I have seen posts about how fast the current can run out there. Any feedback would be appreciated about this Moon Phase and if it will affect the speed of the current during the day? If so is there a better Moon phase to aim for?

    Hi Mad Fish

Do not get too worried about the Moon phase as it does notmake that much difference up off Fraser. The East Australian Current has mostof the influence in this area and it is running hard at the moment. Look atthis link http://oceancurrent.imos.org.au/Brisbane2/latest.html. Moon and tide do not have a lot to do with the run off Fraser.

Most fishing will have to be on the drift as 1kg of leadwill not hold bottom out wide at anchor at the moment. All this can change in aday so it will be what it is when you get there, just be ready to changefishing style when it runs.

    Regards

    Hi Dwane,
Yep across the Bar two days in a row. It was fine. Moon phase was wrong I think, only 7 just legal Tuskies and a small Pearlie and a Squire. We went 40k out found some awesome structure. We'll go again in the full moon Cycle after Christmas.

I was also out on a overnighter, we were out on the shelf too much run to fish most of our better spots right on the shelf but just inside was fishable. Fishing was slower than expected with that moon but there was a bit of a northerly blowing. Didn't help that the new raymarine sounder we put on wouldn't read below 60m.
