    mackrel season

    gday
Ive had my boat for a few years now and have been happy bobbin round out there on the water being a shite fisherman, no one I know is really into fishing except me. I'm wanting to get a lil bit more serious about actually getting some fish into the boat, so if there is anyone out there who can deal with a shite fisho, and maybe pass one some tips and tricks there is a boat and a willing learner . Ah also am a shift worker so am bobbin about on weekdays most of the time when it is nice and peaceful on the water
    See Ya

hi dadous. will help your cause if you advise your whereabouts. try browsing some bay reports. anytime anyone catches fish there will be a half dozen questions about bait, tackle, gear etc. if you have week days to fish and put in the time it is only a matter of time.
fishing's as simple as 3 P's - patience, perserverance and PLASTIC!

mate go buy some yamashita paravains in size 6 and get some barra spoons in 3 inch for the bay or if you are offshore get the 6inch spoons...the way to rig the paravain is use 3 trs of 50lb mono cut in half tie each piece to a swivel the 1 end to the middle hole on tha paravain and tie the other end to the spoon..troll at 4-6 knots...use 2 rods...set your troll spped to around 5 knts drop the first paravan freespool for 6 seconds then set the other paravain but this time count to 10-12 then your set...a good place to start is over the sandhills on moreton keep on the 8-12mtr line look for bait schools..the paravain will surface when fish is on...head north from the sandhills...not much more i can do for ya mate except catch the buggers for ya

Dadous another couple of methods is to drop a slug down whilst drifting any of the shipping beacons on the western side of Moreton and when youve passed the beaccon you fast retrieve the slug. Should be some schoolies there at the moment, good fun on light gear, just be prepared some big cobes and spanish there to at times.

MM is on the money with dropping slugs around the shipping channel beacons. The same area will work with a pilly on a gang (no wire) ir a livey with a little bit of light wire to a single hook
