    UHF help

Hi Gents, after sitting idle for a year or two due to a broken antenna I decided to lash out a get a new antenna for the big tow north. Well being the lazy bugger I am I went to buy the same antenna (laser) that I had so I did not have to change the coax cable or mount. Could not find one around my area but did find a GME ae409l that appeared to have the same mount so shelled out my coin and took one home. It screwed straight on and when I fired up the radio could hear the truckies chatting away so I thinks sweet that was easy . Anyways find out once on the high way that I can receive but not transmit. I have since hooked it up with the GME mount hoping that it would be that simple but alas still not working. When I transmit the TX lights up on the screen and you can hear some static on the hand held radio but it won't feed back when you put the mics close and key the car unit but plenty of feed back if you key the hand held unit. So if there any Ausfishers out there who are gifted in the black arts of coms please help

Hey mate is the gme ae409L the one that has either 6db or a 9db whip (the wire bit)?
Also what was the laser one you replaced? I havent played this game for a while so i am a bit rusty.

Hi chappie yes it's the 6/9 db and I have it set up as a 6 unsure of the laser model but it was about 900 mm long fibre glass with a base that stood about 100 mm high has got 406 written on it.

I had the same problem recently, reception fine, transmit bad. UHF feeding into bad antenna which destroyed the CB (final rf amp gone for the geeks). Could be the mike though, I would try what pig75 said before replacing the whole unit.

    Re: UHF help

Well tried a replacement mic with no luck and my mic worked fine on the other unit so back to the drawing board.
