i have made a few rods before, but i haven't tried any wraps and i was wondering if anyone would be keen on giving me some pointers to do some Open Chevron wraps?

    Re: Chevron Wraps

A basic way is to use a China marker and on one side mark out some spacings using a ruler. It will depend on the blank diameter as to the spacings but I like to do about 30mm spacing to get a decent arrow shape. Then turn the blank 180 degrees and mark again. This time offset the first mark half of the other side so it's basically diagonally opposite if that makes sense. The rest are marked out the same distance.
Cross wrap the first run through up and back and check to make sure the cross overs are all nice and centered.
Every thread wrap after this goes in front of the previous one both up and back so you form the arrow. In front wll cause a forwards facing one but you can do backwards and sideways ones too.
Best to wait for others to chime in here as my first one was only about 6 weeks ago.

start with a x (cross) and continue to bind to one side of it
as you change colours the chevron will form
it can also be done as a endless buttwrap
