Thumbs up The Tailor are on at Brooms Head but...

Just back from a week at Brooms Head and the Tailor were very definitely biting - problem was they were all about 25cm long.

Lost too many lures to the rocks chasing these little ones so eventually I swapped to the lighter rig and the soft plastics and found some cracker Bream off the headlands.

It is a great spot to rock fish provided the weather is with you.

    Thanks for sharing buddy.

Some nice bream there too. Well done.
    Cheers, Doug.
Love to use Preditek or Kingfisher lures or Viva Lures when I am out fishing.

Must have just missed you mate. I got some nice fish below the lookout in my old haunts. Mostly a swag of bream, 2 nice drummer and a couple of school-sized tailor around the kilo mark. That southerly did noone any good.
Got my little brother hooked up to a good jew but he dropped it unfortunately. He caught a big pike which we sent back out with the addition of some jewelery in his back. Sat around playing with bream and other bits and pieces before it got whacked big time. He went well, fought it for around 15 mins before losing it due to a pulled hook. Its a good start though, he seems to get keener and keener everytime we go fishing.
Saw someone fishing the south-east peaks of the lagoon which must've been you. It was strange, not many people were braving the elements were they?

I think the big northerly blows pissed everyone off and convinced them they could not fish - but that southern side of the headland is pretty good in those conditions. However once soaked - it was pretty cold in that wind. I love that spot - can't wait to get back

Re: The Tailor are on at Brooms Head but...

I know Brooms Head very well. When I lived in Maclean as a kid in the 50's Broom's Head was our beach of choice on the weekend in the summer. But I've never fished it - I've stood on that lookout many times since (particularly when the seas are so big I couldn't find anywhere to fish at Iluka) thinking that the water looks so good there's got to be some fish there. But every time the weather moderates then there are so many places to fish at Iluka it's so hard to leave them and go to an unknown location where I might catch a fish. As well the rocks at Broom are SO hard and spikey to walk on (and probably to sit on for hours) that I can't quite make myself leave Iluka where I know I can catch something. I'll just have to take a cabin for a week at Broom and fish it for a week so I'll know what I'm missing. Maybe next year!

    Cheers Freeeedom

I suffered the same problem but in the end, the Mrs likes the cabins at Brooms Head better than Woody Head, so I was forced to have a go. But it never ends because from Brooms Head you go down to Sandon and have a look at Plover Island and think - I better give this place a try.............
