Is Donaghys Superfilm suitable for anchor rope
I was about to go and buy sonme new rope as the old silver rope I had was starting to suffer from the sun but my mate gave me a reel of 10mm Donaghys yellow Superfilm rope, it is according to their catalogue as being a Hawser laid Polypropelene film and I was wondering if it suitable for use as an anchor rope. It feels a little stiff but otherwise I don't know enough about different types of rope as to it's suitability, I would be using it on the reefs on a 20'.

Silver(polyethylene) and polypropelene both float and are water resistant. 10mm silver breaking strain is approx 920kg and 10mm polypropelene 1425kg. Silver is softer and has a little more stretch than polypropelene. Polypropelene is less UV resistant than silver.
So overall it makes a good strong anchor rope apart from being a little stiff and dont leave it out in the sun too much.

Thanks Malcolm, I will give it a try, it seems more pliable then the green Poly rope I have had for other uses but not quite as pliable as the silver rope,
