    Re: 2013 Ausfish Annual Agnes Water / 1770 M & G.

OK you turtleheads. Just a reminder that there is a few different 'fun' events that will be running at the cookoff to raise a few funds for the VMR at Round Hill that looks so very well after us all when we are at the M&G (and other times during the year). You can either compete and participate or bring some coin to participate. It is all for a very good cause and certainly helps with our collective reputation with the VMR and community of Agnes/1770. This is evident by the attitude of the police when we are there, the support for prizes or sponsorship by the local businesses and the locals. So the events are:

The cook off - Chong is the C.O.C.K and still is seeking another couple of cooks to have a go for the prestige of being cook off champ. You don't have to be a masterchef, just keen to share a finger food snack that you knock up well and doesn't poison anyone. PM Chong if you are willing to have a crack at the title. Murf won it last year with batter fish bits and brags he is on route to set up a QLD SOO type domination of the event with a win again this year. The way we raise some coin in this event is that there will be a bucket for each of the cooks (not for throwning up in!) that those that scoff some of their delights can make a donation. Cook with the most coin at the end of the event wins and all coin goes to the VMR.

The prawn peeler championships - need six people who reckon that can peel prawns with some speed. First to peel their six prawns without waste and shell wins. How do we raise funds with this? Well, glad you asked. You get to 'bid' by auction for a prawn peeler for the event. They win, you get 60% of the total purse, balance to VMR. Champion prawn peeler gets a special champions trophy and the aclaim and admiration of his/her peers. If you want to have a go at the comp, then PM Chong or nominate and challenges other on this thread.

Muddy v Tropicrows ring burner challenge. Bruce (tropicrows) has a rep for turning out some pretty dam hot chillies and some of us have made the mistake of taking Bruce on and losing. Now Bruce has been developing a mind blowingly hot chilli that apparently will cook meat at 100m, has to be accompanied by a fire extinquisher and he reckons it is top stuff and can't be seriously eaten. Enter Anthony (Muddy Toes), who reckons Bruce's chilli is for pussies and so the challenge evolved. So Muddy will attempt to eat one of Bruce's chillies at the Cook Off. So how do we raise coin out of this act of stupidity? Well glad you asked (again)! We sit a can of drink (coke as Muddy doesn't drink) in front of Muddy when he eats the chilli. Prior to the event, we run a board with numbers (seconds) of how long it will take for Muddy to give in and down the drink. You can go up and select a number and cough up $5. Up to 5 people can select a number (seconds). If you are right in guessing how long Muddy lasts, then you and whoever is on that number (if any) share in 60% of the total take - balance goes direct to VMR. Official time will be from when the chilli goes in Muddy's gob to when he takes the first sip (guzzle) and the time keeper's call of time will be final. If no one picks the time, then all coin raised goes to VMR. If Muddy makes it to a minute, he get to rip it up Bruce for being a pussy. If nothing else, it will be fun, we watch Muddy try to man up and raise a few bucks for VMR. Thanks to Bruce and Anthony for volunteering.

Raffle - we have a raffle of quiet a few prizes that have been gratefully supplied by various business. These prizes will be listed closer to the M&G, but there are some great prizes there. There will be people selling tickets during the night. All funds rased go to the VMR.

Last year we raised over $1000 to the VMR and it was very gratefully received. With more people going this year, I would be hoping for more. So, put your hand up for one of the comps and/or bring some coin for the cook off donate, to be the winning bid of a prawn peeler and chance to win some money or put your money where your mouth is as to whether Muddy or Bruce is the pussy and by how much. Money talks, but banter and BS walks!

Remember it is all for a bit of fun and a great cause that we all rely on up there for safety.

    Boony - how long now?

Giffo, there is a vacant block next door that Murf used last year. Unless there is a house suddenly built on it, that should be good. The other thing is that one of the local coppers lives next door so that keeps the place a bit safer.

Thanks Steve ( Apollo ) for the update on festivities.

I will be emailing all attendees very soon with refined details.

only soulfish has not submitted email address, as far as I can tell.

Looks like some challenges have been set and only time will tell if those challenges can be met. I think Muddy is on a hiding to nothing with Bruce's chillis and will put some $'s on 6 seconds !!!!!

    FYI:-

39 days until the start of the M & G.

    • 3,369,600 seconds
    • 56,160 minutes
    • 936 hours
    • 39 days
    • 5 weeks (rounded down)

    cheers LP.

I see Bretts been busy with the grinder and welder again. The bleeding boat always has a few new bits added so a second hull is no suprise
