You can also just acquire whole mullet, nothing wrong with that...... probably run out at $1 - $2 kg ?????

I am just a sookie-la-la and like the no scales and bones bait, to which the Red Emporer I am sure, also agree.

I have freezer space for 100kgs only.

ive been building up a nice stack of salted mullet fillets over the last few months, buy them whole, ( Naked Seafood at Viccie Pt sometimes has them fresh at $2 bucks a kilo whole) fillet and salt them and use the frames for sandies... will have to get a bigger freezer....

I find using those vac sealers for mullet fillets is problematic with the fish juices running around, so now get a freezer bag and then into a sandwich bag, seems to be working fine.

OR, is my memory fading ? I did get some at Capalaba last year, but from memory they were closer to $4/kg than $3.33. ??

Anyway, which ever way it works out....... $3.50/kg is buying time.

Mullet trunks (no head and no guts) $15/10kg delivered free down here atm

try these bags off evil bay ''Vacuum Food Sealer Saver Storage Bags 200 22cm 28cm'' they have been the best I have used, also cut down the big bags into two smaller ones when needed

yes a bit of juice when Vac sealing mullet fillets or slimies but keep wiping down the inner lip of bags prior to sealing and mopping up the juice each time with a chux rinsed in water. Also double seal the bag when juicy or until the bubbles stop moving up the bag.

As much as I would live to finally attend this year is not to be as my wife is due with our second child on the 29th September and I more than likely wont get a leave pass.

mate, you are going to have to learn to keep it zipped up over the Christmas/new year but after seeing your missus I can understand your reluctance. I know you prefer bait over rubbers but maybe just for December and January?
