    New deckie coming along nicely

Took the family over to Tanga's on Sunday and Master 7 asked if he could drive, since he's not too keen on boating (Goes a bit green) thought yeh for sure, good to see some enthusiasm. He took the helm just outside the river and navigated the whole way across the bay to within about a 100M out from the Tanga's wharf where I took over again. He used a combination of GPS "Keep the pink line straight up and down" and landmarks ("Aim for that high point on the island") to complete the navigation. I only had to intervene once to give way to a tinny crossing in front...other than that he did a great job. Another few years and I'll be able to snooze up front until we arrive

After a hard mornings navigating what better way to relax than with a bit of construction work.

A quick cool off in the pool a beer at the bar and a snorkel at the wrecks and time to head home...pretty bumpy on the way back but the kids took up their usual position up front for a sleep on the way home so no drama.

Another spectacular was had at Moreton.

Nice post Crunchy...really brings back memories for me with my boys when they were about that age..... both now very very capable boaties who I let take my boat anytime they want....teach them the right way when they are young and enthusiastic & it will stay with them forever..

My oldest son..now 25 borrowed my boat last Thursday and when I got home I noticed it was washed, refueled and I phoned & asked him did he flush the motor, his response was "Of course idiot"...LOl, I just had to ask hey.

Many years of enjoyment ahead for you and the young ones mate.

    Gotta Love Maroochydore.

The only possible down side is that one day he is going to ask if he & his mates can take the boat out for the day !!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Top stuff Crunchy!

One of the best things I ever did was talk my Dad into going halves in our first boat back in the late 70's. Then learning to drive together. Deckying for him. Then as he got older, him deckying for me. Miss him now he's gone.

Teaching my kids how to drive boats and catch fish and how to be good deckies.

Best thing for Dads and their kids to do, builds real families.

    Good stuff. Enjoy.

    Cheers

    Enjoy!
Note to self: Don't argue with an idiot. They will only bring you down to their level and beat you with experience....

Great stuff Crunchy, many great times ahead.

I had my son(who is 7 also) in the boat a few weeks ago and gave him a drive,he loved it.Teaching him about boats, fishing and the good life is great.Better than computer games that's for sure, pity my girls do not share the like for the boat, as they get crook.
