Must be a few cobe experts out there !
I know they berley them up to the back of the boat sometimes
Carnster feeds them Yakkas with 2 x 5/0 mustad hoodlum's in them
Theres a start
Just wondering if there were any specific techniques or general locations around Straddie to boost chances of finding one. Not sure exactly what to do with things like water depth, tide and the sort of bottom to be looking for. Any help much appreciated.

Live bait on the bottom, tide change, structure (reef pinnacle), and plenty of mojo. You can see them on the sounder as big bananas. good luck, we are about to eat some fresh cobe now yum.

Hi canster,
Am on the Gold coast Do you find Cobia are more prevalent in Summer, or winter---or does it make no difference? I have found better luck when whales are about, but that may be coincidence. What do you think? How do you rig your livies.I generally have a large hook behind the head which takes the strain, and a smaller trailing hook in near the tail. One on the bottom, and one with a small ball sinker, 5 m from bait to balloon floated out behind.
I have equal succes with either, but the Mac tuna can pick up the one under the balloon.
What do you think about that?

lol I try and avoid them and still hook them up all tooo often. But yes often around structure in 10 - 100M of water. Berley trail and live bait but hook plenty on pillies too.
