mine are still swimming out there somewhere lol
goin looking for them again next weekend .i figure if i use enough fuel then 1 day i will find them
It is way too late or a bit early for them down in the SEQ corner. Might be a few random ones here and there, a yak fisherman got one off Noosa the other week which is big news and the odd random wahoo has been seen or caught but I reckon it will be November before we start seeing them in numbers.
I heard a couple of blokes got stuck into them up fraser way the other day. Smithy might know a bit about that.
Seeing more around Gladstone as well.
Moreton Bay.
Got done up well and truly by three good stripeys on monday.
By the time I woke up to the size and how deep they were I lost three in a row.
Up with the pick and out with the bigger gear and started to troll went 100 yards, 2 lines out 40 feet of water and bang, good fish, slow but heavy, bugger, a turtle, a few good kicks not a turtle, still slow and heavy, on my own, wound in the other line, dug out the gaff, definately a fish but what??????
Put the boat into a slight circle, narrowed the the gap and up came an 18 pound cod.
The second cod on a trolled pillie over 40 years from the same spot.
I have caught snapper feeding on scraps under tuna and am sure now that this cod was doing the same thing under the spaniards.
4 hook rig and medium pillie in 40 feet of water on the troll.
Earlier on couldn't get a live bait to save my life so I think he was hungry.
I did land a 7 pound Morwong on whiting gear, 6 pound line and whiting hook and very small piece of squid. Quite a battle.
Beautiful morning on the water fog or no fog.
Have fun Haji-Baba
